Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia meets with a senior official from the ruling party
Pretoria, March 31, 2010. The Ambassador of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques in South Africa, Mr. Mohamed bin Mahmoud Al Ali met with Ms Baleka Mbete, the National Chairperson of the ruling party in the Republic of South Africa the National African Congress (ANC).    

The meeting was held at the headquarter of the ruling party in Johannesburg.

HE Mr. Al Ali and Ms Mbete discussed various issues regarding the bilateral relations between the two countries and the possible ways of enhancing the existing ties.
Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosts a working dinner for the South African members of SA-Saudi Business Council
Pretoria, March 30, 2010. The Ambassador of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques in South Africa, Mr. Mohamed bin Mahmoud Al Ali hosted a working  dinner for the South African members of the South African – Saudi Business Council.

The dinner was attended by the executive chairman of the South African members Dr. Igbal Surve and all the other members.
 
The working dinner was held to exchange views on how to advance the business relations between the two countries and to prepare for the forthcoming visit to South Africa by a delegation of Saudi businessmen.

Pretoria, March 2, 2010. The Ambassador of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques in South Africa, Mr. Mohamed bin Mahmoud Al Ali hosted a luncheon on honour of His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Ali Al-Gamdi who visited South Africa to interact with the South African Muslim community and to enhance the objectives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in consolidating the ties with the Muslim communities through out the world.

The luncheon was attended by leading figures of the Muslim community in South Africa and staff members of the Arabic and Islamic diplomatic missions.    

Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Ali Al-Gamdi also visited the cities of Cape Town and Durban where he met with the Muslim communities.

Pretoria, February 24, 2010. The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of South Africa, Mr. Mohamed bin Mahmoud Al Ali hosted a dinner party on honour of Mr. Abdullah bin Sulman Al-Johani, Deputy President in charge of Marketing and Media in Saudi Commission for Tourism & Antiquities, and Mr. Saud bin Ali Al Abdulaziz, Deputy President in charge of sport in the General Presidency of Youth Welfare who participated in T20 Tourism Ministers' Conference which was held in Johannesburg 22-24 February 2010.

The function was attended by the official delegation of the General Presidency of Youth Welfare,  Saudi Commission for Tourism & Antiquities and staff members of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia.
Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia opens the documentary feature: Journey to Mecca
Pretoria, January 22, 2010. The Ambassador of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques in South Africa, Mr. Mohamed bin Mahmoud Al Ali opened the IMAX documentary feature: Journey to Mecca which tells the story of Ibn Battuta following his first pilgrimage to Mecca. The documentary also focuses on the contemporary Hajj, a pilgrimage to Mecca that draws three million Muslims from around the world.

The opening night was attended by Ms. Naledi Pandor, Minister of Science and Technology in the Republic of South Africa, and the South African veteran politician Mr. Ahmed Kathrada.

The show was also attended by number of diplomats and prominent South African figures.
